Today I learned what thesis statement is. To tell the truth, I can't totally discern it from the topic sentence, although Miss Chen told us that the thesis statement is the main-idea sentence for the entire essay while the topic sentence is for a paragraph. According the guidelines mentioned in the material, I feel there are three which is as topic sentence:
1. A thesis statement must be a complete sentence.
2. A thesis statement gives an opinion, attitude, or idea; it should not just announce the topic of the essay.
4. A thesis statement is not a question(but will often be the answer to a question). (↑so is topic sentence)
However, I feel the most different guideline is 3th:
3. A thesis statement is more interesting when it expresses an opinion, not a fact because facts cannot be argued.

To finish the assignment2, The different between living in dorm and home, I asked many friends for their idea. Although I got a lot of fun suggestions, it is really hard to conbine them into an article. Finally I gave up. I write this article two times because I am not satisfied with the first version. My friend also told my that my direction was totally wrong because I wrote " the different between living in dorm and living in rent house." When I heard this, I almost got crazy as I've wrote that article for many hours. Anyway, I still fininsh the assignment patiently.

12/7(Learning journal 8 )
This time we learned how to compare two different things and we read the article about two different teachers. I remembered I had wrote this kind of composition before. I compared two teachers and one of them was liked and the other wasn't. To tell the truth, I am not quite like write this kind of article because it is difficult for me to structure well. I like to brainstome and also can come up with a lot of idea, yet I just could't combine them orderly. Therefore, sometime I feel my articles could be seperated by several part. Is that Ok? Is it a bad phenomenon?

This time's free writing I want to reflect the sample 15 of the material that Miss Chen gave us in the class of Topic sentence. I feel unhappy with the content of this paragraph, so I want to fight back.

The name in my composition are cited from CNN.

Today Miss Chen show us the principle of "How to check the composition?" In my opinion, it is more useful than the checklist written on the material. After checking the academic writing rules, I wrote them on my month schedule book so that I can review it whenever I need them.

I still value that "The piece is engaging and alive."

My friend Ricky(李奇瀚), who had taken this class before, asked me why I am so blue after he read my composition "Why you major your major?". He said he feel sad through my article. I was shocked and confused why he asked this question because I just wanted to tell a joke without any negative emotion. Fortunately, I finally realize that “reader awareness” is important. I reviewed my article again and found that there isn’t any positive words and aspects in the article. I’m sad about the failed joke but glad of finding this problem.

10/31 (Learning Journal 5)

This time Miss Chen made us check others' composition.

I found that both two classmates whom I checked didn't care their grammar as well as me.
Before I publish my composition, I will use word to cheke my grammer, but I was aware of that it cannot fixed the problem of tense.

The other difficulty is that my article structure is really poor, which is according my friends.
I also found that my structure is quiet different from others.
Acturally, I felt constrained when I tried to follow the structure rule.
I prefer to writting everything I want.
So here is the question, what can I do to solve this problem?
